Make a passport photo that won't get rejected
Upload any photo. CheckPassportPhoto checks it against official U.S. State Department rules in seconds — head size, background, expression, glasses — then builds a print-ready 2×2 in. Your photo never leaves your device.

Upload any photo — a selfie works. CheckPassportPhoto checks it against official U.S. passport rules and frames a print-ready 2x2 in.
Your photo never leaves your device — all checks run in your browser.
How it works
Three steps, about a minute, no account needed to check.
Upload or snap a photo
Use a phone selfie or any portrait. Nothing is uploaded to a server — it stays in your browser.
We check every rule
Head size, eye position, tilt, expression, glasses, background and sharpness — measured against the official U.S. spec.
Get a print-ready 2×2
CheckPassportPhoto frames your head to spec and drops in a clean white background. Download HD, print at home or a pharmacy.
Why CheckPassportPhoto
Most photo apps just resize. CheckPassportPhoto is built around one thing: getting your photo accepted.
Correctness, not guesswork
We measure head height, eye line and tilt against the exact 2×2 in spec — not a vague "looks fine".
Your photo stays private
Every check runs on-device with an in-browser vision model. Your face is never uploaded or stored.
Auto-fixes the hard parts
Wrong background or framing? CheckPassportPhoto replaces the background with compliant white and re-frames your head.
Explains every result
No black box. Each item tells you exactly what passed, what failed, and why — like "head tilted 8°".
Free passport photo tools
Each runs in your browser. No upload, no watermark on tools.

Frequently asked questions
Is the passport photo checker free?+
Yes. Checking your photo against every rule is completely free and needs no account. You only pay ($2.99) if you want to download the final, watermark-free print-ready photo.
Does my photo get uploaded to a server?+
No. The face and background analysis run entirely in your browser using an on-device model. Your photo never leaves your device, which is important for a sensitive ID photo.
Can I smile in a US passport photo?+
A neutral expression is recommended — a natural, closed-mouth look. A big open-mouth smile can get your photo rejected. CheckPassportPhoto flags this for you.
Can I wear glasses?+
No. Since November 2016 the U.S. does not allow glasses in passport photos, except with a signed medical statement. CheckPassportPhoto reminds you to remove them.
Will my photo definitely be accepted?+
CheckPassportPhoto verifies everything a camera can measure against the official specs, which catches the vast majority of rejection reasons. It cannot guarantee a passport officer’s final human judgment, so we never promise "guaranteed acceptance".
Can I print it at home or at a pharmacy?+
Yes. You get a 2×2 in photo at print resolution (up to 1200px). Print it at home on photo paper, or upload it to CVS, Walgreens, Walmart or any print service.
